Milton, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Della Ernestine Carver Harrell of 364 Hamlett Road, Milton, NC, who passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Sovah Health, Danville, VA.
She was a native of Elizabeth City, NC, the daughter of the late William Arthur Carver and Garnett Virginia King Carver, born November 19,1927. She was a member of Macedonia AME Church, where she was an usher, member of the angelic choir, lay organization, senior choir and the missionary.
She was an employee of John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, Arlens Dept. store in Manhatten, NY, Dan River Mills, and she operated The Jesse Elmore Store "The Store” in Semora, NC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Linwood Harrell, Sr.; two daughters, Erma Diana Turner and Mary Elizabeth Ferguson; three sisters, Sarah Scott, Vaver Jones, Lena Ashby; three brothers, James Arthur Carver, Lindbergh Carver and George Carver.
Her survivors are sons, James F. Carver Sr. and Kenneth L. Harrell Sr. of Baltimore, MD and Roy L. Harrell, Jr., (Gwendolyn) of Pelham, NC; two sisters; Lillie Mae Rhodes of Riegelwood, NC and Yvonne Griffin of Brooklyn, NY; one brother, Leroy Rayfield Carver (Dorothy) of Jamaica Queens, NY; 17 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren, 31 great great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
