Dorothy B. Jones

Milton, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Dorothy B. Jones of 11434 Hwy 62 N. Milton, NC who passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 at her residence.

She was a native of Jersey City, NJ the daughter of the late Edgar K. Bellfield and “Nannie” Dorothy Thornton Bellfield Brandon and born October 7, 1923. She was a member of Macedonia AME Church.

She was an employee with Hanover Mills before retirement in the mid-1980’s.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, James Moses Jones; one daughter, Candy Diane Jones; three sons, James Moses Jones, Jr., Japarrell Bellfield Jones, and Julius Darrell Jones; one brother, Edgar K. “Punchie” Bellfield, Jr.; three sisters, Rochelle OZanor “Ozie” Brandon, Carolyn Brandon, and Glossie “Darlene” Brandon Griffin. 

Survivors include one son, Pervis Vedreem Jones (Sharon) of Roxboro, NC; three daughters, Shirley Jean Jones (Saadik), Kathy Jo. Jones of the home, and Judy “Bunny” Brandon of Greensboro, NC; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two brothers, Tinsley Brandon, Jr., of Connecticut and Samuel J. Brandon of Florida; one sister-in-law, Minnie Mae Jones Jeffers; one brother-in-law, Harvey Jones both of Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
