Yanceyville, NC - It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Mrs. Wilma Jane (Willis) Brown of 1062 Foster Rd., who passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer in the Piney Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center, Danville, VA.
Born May 23, 1938 in Caswell County to the late Arneda Bushnell Willis and Walter Willis. Wilma was married to the late Charles Stewart Brown.
Wilma and Charles lived throughout their marriage in Washington, DC and Maryland where they were blessed with two sons, the late Charles Dexter Brown and the late Kelvin Dennis Brown.
She was a graduate of Caswell County High School, Class of 1957.
Wilma retired from Giant Foods and returned to Yanceyville, North Carolina several years ago.
She was a faithful, long time member of New Ephesus Baptist Church in Ruffin, NC. Prior to her illness, she shared many happy times at the Caswell Senior Center, where she loved playing dominoes.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Anttwon Wright (Tatzteana), Jamal Bigelow, Brandon Brown and Denika Brown, all of Maryland, and seven great grandchildren, one of whom, Darius Legette, shared her home. She is also survived by one sister, Nina Heyward of Danville, Virginia, and one brother, Marvin Willis (Ophelia), of Yanceyville, North Carolina, She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Elizabeth Willis, Queen Graves, Ruby Graves, Ethel Matthews and Margaret Long and five brothers, Walter Jr., Freeman, Carnell, James Artis, and Bobby Lee Willis. Many nieces and nephews, numerous friends and other family members as well mourn her passing.
