Blanch, NC – It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Alene George Graves Russell of 847 Blanch Road, who passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at her residence.
She was a native of Craven County, NC the daughter of the late Nathaniel George and Mattie Frazier George, born November 9, 1935. She was a graduate and great supporter of Shaw University, where she received a BA degree in Education.
She was a teacher in the Caswell County School System for before retirement and she was an active community leader and humanitarian.
She joined and became an active member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the missionary and other auxiliaries in the church. She was also a member of the Caswell County NAACP and one of the original board members of the County Outreach Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Graves and James Russell; stepson, Gardner Graves; seven brothers, Haywood, George, Clark, William, Robena, Clyde, and Elijah; two sisters, Pearl Hinton and Perfonia George;
Her survivors are stepson, Forrest Graves of Maryland; three sisters, Addie Currie of Leasburg, NC, Dorothy Totten of Blanch, NC and Irma Johnson ( Jessie ) of Beaufort, NC; three brothers, Hillman George ( Odessa ) of Havelock, NC Timmy George of Blanch, NC and Donza George ( Rose ) of Havelock, NC; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends
