Annie Ruth Williamson Weatherford

 Yanceyville, NC - Mrs. Annie Ruth Williamson Weatherford, age 73, passed away Thursday, 23 April 2020 at the Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation in Yanceyville, North Carolina.

The youngest child of the late Henry and Herley Johnson Williamson, Ruth was born in Yanceyville on 3 November, 1946.  She was educated in the Caswell County Schools and graduated from Caswell County High School in 1965.  Ruth attended Kitrell College (Kitrell, NC) before moving to Detroit, Michigan where she joined the City of Detroit Police Department (DPD).  Following retirement from the DPD, Ruth returned to Yanceyville in 1985 and married the love of her life, the late Autry Lewis “Bubba” Weatherford.  Her second career, with the Caswell County Schools ended when her health began to decline.

In recent years, Ruth’s enthusiastic relationship with sweets and deserts became legendary.  An avid reader of all things written, everyone will affectionately remember Ruth best for her passionate devotion to animals.  She loved her “fur babies” as if they were her own children.  To Ruth, all paws were precious.

Ruth is survived by one brother, William Henry Williamson (Queen) of Yanceyville; brother-in-law Charles Weatherford (Vernell) of Greensboro, NC; sisters-in-law Joann H. Williamson of Semora, NC and Dinah Weatherford Jeffers of Yanceyville; nieces, nephews, aunts, an uncle, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be held on Monday, April 27, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. Please remember to follow CDC guidelines with everyone wearing protective gloves and masks.

Private Graveside Service will be Tuesday, April 28, 2020 in Pearson Chapel A M E  Church Cemetery. Pastor Barrington Ross will deliver the words of comfort.
