Barbara Ann Graves Blackwell Garner

Yanceyville, NC – It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Ms. Barbara Ann Graves Blackwell Garner of 239 North Ave. Yanceyville, NC, who passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at her residence.

Barbara Ann was the daughter of the late James H. Graves and Willie Mae Totten Graves born March 27, 1942 in Caswell County, NC.  She was a graduate of Winston Salem State University with her BS in Nursing. Upon her graduation she began her career at Moses Cone Hospital located in Greensboro, NC; then on to Annie Penn Hospital, Burlington Regional Hospital better known as Alamance Regional Hospital and Danville Memorial Hospital now known as SOVAH Health.  She was a faithful nurse of 46 years.  She has served as a head nurse, supervisor, a part of a surgical team and in the neonatal care unit.

Barbara Ann joined the church at a young age and was a member of Pearson Chapel AME Church, Yanceyville, NC where she was a faithful and active member of the Usher Board, Senior Choir, Missionary Circle and Kitchen Committee until her health declined.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Ramona Blackwell of Blanch, NC;  granddaughter, Ariel J. Dickerson of Danville, VA; grandson, Armon J. Dickerson of Pembroke, NC; great-grandson, Kingston A. Allen of Danville, VA; one brother Jimmie Lea Graves of Blanch, NC; Nephews, Craig Graves (Cassandra) of Blanch, NC; Chris Graves (Latosha) of Jamestown, NC; great niece, Taylor Graves, three great nephews, Craig Graves Jr., Tristan Graves and Khalil Clay.  Special friends of the family Stella Graves, Sherry N. Lea and a special grandson, Shawn Griffith; host of other relatives and friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, September 10, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.   (Facial Masks are required)

Funeral Services for Mrs. Barbara Ann Blackwell Garner will be Saturday, September 11, 2021 12:00 noon in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.  Visitation prior to service at 11:30 a.m.  Pastor Toma Shaw will deliver the words of comfort.  Interment will follow in Pearson Chapel AME Church Cemetery, Yanceyville, NC.
