Obituary

 Providence, NC - Barbara “Bobbi” Jean Johnson Jones Renn, age 81, of 94 Everett Lane, Providence, North Carolina, joined her waiting family and friends in Heaven on July 31, 2023, for a welcome home celebration. She was the daughter of the late Robert G. Johnson, Sr. and the late Vera Mae Stokes Johnson Soyars.

Bobbi graduated from Cobb Memorial High School and Rockingham Community College. Being a conscientious worker, she was previously employed in several capacities, mainly Disston, Inc., Rockingham Community College Nursing Department, and Danville Community College Financial Aid Department from which she retired. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church where she enjoyed working in the Children’s Sunday School class for approximately 50 years. She was known as the costume lady for many years of Christmas Cantatas.

She is survived by her son, B. Keith Jones, Sr., of Reidsville, and her daughter, Yvonne J. McKinney of Providence; four grandchildren: Jennifer J. Goff of Reidsville, Brian K. Jones, Jr., of Reidsville, Kallie McKinney of Burlington, and Faith M. Hall of Reidsville; six great-grandchildren: Haylea Womack of Graham, Brooklyn Womack of Reidsville, Brian Jones, III, of Providence, Kayla Gibbs of Providence, Delana Jones of Yanceyville, and Hunter Hall of Reidsville; one brother, Robert “Bud” Johnson, Jr., of Pelham; two sisters-in-law: Judy J. Stillman of Georgia (Jack) and Donna K. Johnson of Roxboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph “Joe” Hodges Jones in 1969 and her second husband, Earle “Red” Renn in 1997. She was also predeceased by a brother, John (Jack) Johnson; a son-in-law, Keith McKinney; and two sisters-in-law: Betty Jo Johnson and Marie J. Vaughn.

Those who knew Bobbi were well aware of her giving nature and spirit of service to her family, friends, and strangers. She was a strong determined soul throughout her life. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral or formal visitation. In her honor and in the spirit of Bobbi, please celebrate her memory in a manner that crystalizes her spirit and comforts your soul.
