Danville, VA. - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Ms. Betty Graves Long of 212 Brentwood Dr. Danville, VA., who passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA.
She was a native of Caswell County, NC, the daughter of the late Ottoway Graves and Roxie Henderson Graves, born July 22, 1945. Betty was a member of Sassafras Grove Baptist Church.
Betty worked for several companies such as Dan River Mills in Danville, VA, Hanover Mills in Yanceyville, NC, and Equity Meats in Reidsville, NC before retirement. She also worked in the Caswell County School System for many years as a Teacher Assistant and Library Assistant at New Dotmond Elementary School in Milton, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Long; and one brother, Wayne Graves.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories two sons, William Long ( Pam) of Danville, VA, and Timothy Long ( Jessica) of Reidsville, NC; five sisters, Linda Mangum of Yanceyville, NC, Elaine Pinnix (Leroy) of Mebane, NC, Kay Lewis of Danville, VA., Roxie Giggetts (Richard) of Pelham, NC, and Sally Ann Payne of Danville, VA.; sister-in-law, Catherine Moore of Blanch, NC; two grandchildren, Kenyetta M. Long (Rob) of Atlanta, Ga., and Timothy T. Long (Courtney) of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Carter Long, Taylor Brown, Journee McQueen and Trinity Long; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
A viewing for Ms. Betty Graves Long will be Friday, February 23, 2024, from 2 PM to 7 PM in the John & Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Ms. Betty Graves Long will be on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Sassafras Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Gary Williams will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
