Bishop Ronald Pettie Sr.

Eden, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Bishop Ronald Pettie Sr. age 87, of 620 Hamlin Street, in Eden, North Carolina. He passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at his residence.

Bishop Ronald Pettie Sr., the son of the late Simon Pettie and Iona Hairston Pettie, was born on July 19, 1938, in Martinsville, Virginia.

He attended the local public schools and was a lifelong resident of Eden, North Carolina, where he was employed and retired from Spray Cotton Mills. Ronald met and married the love of his life, Crissie Millner, on June 20, 1959 and to their union six children were born.

A man of unwavering faith, passion, and endless sacrifice Ronald answered the call into ministry in under the leadership of the Emeritus Reverend/Pastor Gary Cobb at Sunny Home Baptist Church in Eden, North Carolina. He was a man after God’s own heart and he took his assignment seriously God elevated him as the Founder Pastor/Bishop of Temple of Faith Church in Eden, North Carolina on October 08, 2000, by Bishop Zeledee Talley, Jr. of Glorious Church of God.

Now as an overseer he pastored the spiritual well-being of God’s people, but his love did not stop there also had a passion for the prison ministry in the surrounding communities. Bishop Pettie was eager to shared God’s Word to those incarcerated to bring hope and God’s redemptive power to those broken needing God’s healing to restore their lives back to God. When he was not giving back to the community in his spare time, Bishop Pettie particularly enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as walking, shopping at Walmart, and going to the Flee Market.

In addition to his parents, Bishop Ronald Pettie Sr., was preceded in death by his three sisters Amie E. Harris, Millie Walker, and Virnetta Pettie, six brothers Simon Pettie, Jr. Henry Lee Pettie, Edward O. Pettie, Gerald Z. Pettie, Phillip S. Pettie, and Roy R. Pettie.

Bishop Ronald Pettie Sr., left to cherish his precious memories with his loving and devoted wife of the home First Lady Crissie Millner Pettie; his two sons Ronald Pettie, Jr.,(Charlene) and Mark Pettie, Sr.,(LaToya) all of Eden, North Carolina; his four daughters Rena Pettie, Iona Scales (Andre’), Kim Pettie McLaurin (Danny) all of Eden, North Carolina, and Mary Pettie of Reidsville, North Carolina; his adopted daughter Latoria Pettie, and his bonus daughter Bess Brinkley both of Eden, North Carolina; his brother Conway Pettie (Bertha) of New Haven, Connecticut; and his three sisters Zenola Mae Owens, Charmane Jones both of Alabama, and Shelia Pettie of New York; his fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, his church family, and many cherished friends.

Public viewing for Bishop Ronald Pettie Sr.  will be on Wednesday, January 28, 2026; from 2:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel; 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.

Family visitation viewing for Bishop Ronald Pettie Sr. will be on Thursday, January 29, 2026; from 12:30p.m. to 1:00p.m. Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel in Eden, NC.

Funeral Services for Bishop Ronald Pettie Sr. will be conducted at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel, in Eden, NC.

Interment will follow at Hamlin Cemetery in Eden, NC.
