Cornelia Abbott

Eden, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Ms. Cornelia Abbott formerly of 5856 Hwy. 700 Eden, NC, who passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, in the Hospice Home in Pittsboro, NC.

She was a native of Rockingham, County, NC the daughter of the late Charlie Lenzy Abbott and Georgianna Griffin Abbott, born March 19, 1933. She was a graduate of Booker T Washington High School Class of 1953.

Cornelia was a member of Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church, where she was on the Beautification Committee and a former member of the choir. She was also a member of the 700 Flower Club and was a foster mother to many and caregiver to her eldest daughter. She loved sewing and planting flowers.

She was an employee of Fieldcrest Mills before retirement.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Alexander Abbott; three sisters, Elretha Young, Nettie Sue Lea, and Georgianna Abbott Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories are two daughters, Phyllis Ann Abbott and Avis Abbott Keen both of Durham, NC; two brothers, Walter Abbott of Carrollton VA. and Charlie Abbott of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Virginia Sobers of Greensboro, NC; two granddaughters, Ashley Keen of Charlotte, NC and Aliyah Keen of Durham, NC; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be Friday, May 26, 2023; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price St. Eden, NC.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral Services for n Ms. Cornelia Abbott will be Saturday, May 27, 2023;  2:00 p.m. at Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church, Pelham, NC.

Interment will follow in the Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelham, NC.
