Yanceyville, NC -It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Ms. Darlene Paylor Lea 62, of 301 Melvin Wrenn Rd. Yanceyville, NC, who passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at her residence.
Darlene Paylor Lea is the daughter of the late Lewis E. Paylor and Mary Gwynn Paylor.
She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church. In her later years she joined the Gospel Choir and the kitchen committee.
Darlene was a 1979 graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School, graduating second in her class (magna-cum-laude). She continued her education at Winston Salem State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
As a career she taught in Caswell County Schools sharing her love for teaching and learning among three school BYES, Oakwood Elementary, and N.L. Dillard Middle School. She proudly retired after 34 years of service.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Wayne Paylor.
Leaving to cherish her memories are two sons Shawn Patrick Lea (Marquita) and Adrian Terrell Lea both of Yanceyville, NC; her personal close friend whom she called “Sweetie” Harvey Long. The joys of her life were her beautiful grandchildren Marquis, Paisleigh, Shawn Jr., Adrian Jr., Kaylen, and Mariah. Her three brothers cling to the joyful memories as well Reginald E. Paylor, Marvin “Ata” Paylor, and Rev. Melvin Paylor. She also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing for Ms. Darlene Paylor Lea will be Friday, April 14, 2023; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel.
A visitation for Ms. Darlene Paylor Lea will be Saturday, April 15, 2023; from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral Services for Ms. Darlene Paylor Lea will be Saturday, April 15, 2023; at 2 p.m. at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at the Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
