Deacon Freddie Dillard Obituary

Axton, VA. - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Deacon Freddie Allen Dillard of 7477 Morgan Ford Road, Axton, Virginia. He passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on March 08, 1942, to the late John Anderson Dillard and Mary Evelyn Scales Dillard in Rockingham County, North Carolina. Freddie gave his life to God at an early age and now he has gone to get his heavenly reward.

He received his education through the Rockingham County Public School System. Freddie was a supervisor at Eden Solite Block plant for 30 years prior to his retirement. He was also Broadnax Funeral Home’s transport driver for a while. After retirement he worked as a custodian at Axton Middle School and UNC Rockingham Hospital. Freddie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In his younger years he sponsored the “Log Town Bad Boy’s” baseball team.

 Deacon Freddie was united in marriage on May 23, 1968, to Rosa Bell Tinsley and to this union three beloved girls were born: Angela, Valerie, and Tara. He joined Crossroads Bible Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Richardson, which was later re-named Faith Bible Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Roy Handy, where he served as a deacon faithfully until his declining health.

In addition to his parents, Freddie was preceded in death by his son, Leroy Courtland Broadnax; granddaughter, Darrius Dandridge; three sisters, Martha Artis, Jeanette Dillard, and Doris Breakley; two brothers, John Dillard, and Buddy Dillard.

Deacon Freddie Allen Dillard leaves to cherish his precious memories with his loving and devoted wife, Rosa Bell Tinsley Dillard of the home; three daughters, Angela Dillard-Wilson (Ronald) of Axton, Virginia, Valerie Dillard Willis (Jasper) of Stoneville, North Carolina, and Tara Dillard Moore (Stacy) of Axton, Virginia; a son, Ross Broadnax (Emma) of Pikeville, Kentucky; two sisters, Lucy D. Blackwell and Judy D. Morehead (Curtis) all of Eden, North Carolina; one brother, Jimmy Thomas of Greensboro, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Quantedra Wilson, Chasity Dillard, Rontasha Wilson, Kadijah Simone Young (Cedric), Adrienne Dandridge, Deavion Young, Janel Moore, Denijah Hairston, Courtney Broadnax, Kellan Broadnax, and Brian Broadnax; one great- grandchild, Layla Young; two sisters-in-law, Marie Artis of Roanoke, Virginia, and Lorene McCollum (Lawrence) of Eden, North Carolina; brothers-in-law, James Tinsley (Lillian), Hurtis Tinsley and Troy Tinsley all of Axton, Virginia; a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, cousins, a special friend, Robert Keen; and other cherished friends.

A public viewing for Deacon Freddie Allen Dillard will be on Wednesday, August 21, 2024; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.

A family visitation viewing for Deacon Freddie Allen Dillard will be on Thursday, August 22, 2024; from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Faith Bible Baptist Church, in Axton, Virginia.

Funeral services for Deacon Freddie Allen Dillard will be conducted at 1:00pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Faith Bible Baptist Church, in Axton, Virginia.

Interment will follow at Faith Bible Baptist Church Cemetery, in Axton, Virginia.
