Danville, VA - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Deacon Mastin Wayne Hairston of 251 Greenwich Circle, in Danville, Virginia. He passed away on Wednesday, November 05, 2025, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Mastin Wayne, the beloved son of the late Clarence Hairston, Sr. and Mildred Leftwich Hairston, was born on September 07, 1956, in Danville, Virginia.
As a native and lifelong resident of Pittsylvania County, he attended the local public schools and graduated from Tunstall High School. He was gainfully employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Danville, Virginia prior to his retirement. Mastin Wayne married the love of his life, Hazel Clark and to their union two children were born, Vashunda and Cordell.
Being a god fearing and family man, who believed that a family that prayed together stayed together. He was a dedicated member, deacon, trustee, and Sunday School Teacher of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, in Cascade, Virginia. Deacon Hairston shared his skills and talent outside his church by assisting fellow deacons as a member of the Deacon Union of Danville and Vicinity.
In addition to his parents, Deacon Hairston was preceded in death by his brother Clarence Hairston, Jr. and his son-in-law Reverend Matthew Richardson, III.
Deacon Mastin Wayne Hairston leaves to cherish his memories with his devoted and beloved wife Hazel Clark Hairston of the home; his daughter Vashunda Richardson and one grandson Matthew Richardson, IV both of South Boston, Virginia, his son Cordell Hairston of Danville, Virginia; two sisters Gloria Harris (Eugene) of Martinsville, Virginia, and Carolyn Little (Frank) of Danville, Virginia; two uncles P.L. Leftwich (Katie) and Levi Hairston (Marie) all of Danville, Virginia; one sister-in-law Ollie N. Clark of Cascade, Virginia; and two brothers-in-law Thomas Clark (Connie) of Glassgow, Virginia, and William Clark of Gretna, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, his church family, and many cherished friends.

A public viewing and family visitation for Deacon Mastin Wayne Hairston will be on Monday, November 10, 2025; from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, in Cascade, Virginia.
Funeral Services for Deacon Mastin Wayne Hairston will be conducted at 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, in Cascade, Virginia.
Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville, Virginia.
