Sister Debra Ann Simpson transitioned peacefully on January 4, 2024, at Wesley Long Memorial Hospital (Cone Health) Greensboro, NC, to her eternal home with God. Debra, age 66, was born July 6, 1957, to the late James Walter Simpson and Sarah Hatchett Simpson Scales. She was educated in the Caswell County School System and graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School Class of 1975, and later received several degrees from Piedmont Community College Roxboro/ Caswell Campus.
Debra worked for Hearthstone Youth Services and Fulton-Walton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, LLC before her health declined.
At an early age, Debra Ann Simpson dedicated her life to Christ becoming a member of the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Sister Debra a dedicated member, served in Chancellor Choir, and Gospel Chorus, where she was the secretary until her transition.
Debra enjoyed extracurricular activities such as Playing softball, listening to gospel music, watching her favorite college basketball team the UNC Tar heels, better known as the #1team to her and also, she loved watching tennis. Though she was humble, modest, and a woman of few words, she could deliver a powerful message that would give you so much to consider and to be encouraged.
In addition to her parents, Debra was preceded in death by her three brothers, James Walter Simpson Jr., Theodis Wilson Simpson, and George Henry Simpson; one sister, Alice Levern Payne; three stepbrothers, Percy Scales, Pastor James Scales and Willie Lee Scales; and two stepsisters, Carolyn Cummings, and Bernice Lindsay.
Debra leaves to cherish her precious memories one daughter, Kyra Simpson of Clinton, MD: two sons, Clifton Simpson and Caleah Simpson both of Pelham, NC. two grandchildren, Trinity Simmons, and Kandi Michell Green; two sisters, Sharon S. Graves of Pelham, NC and, Ella S. Mullins of Greensboro, NC; one brother, John “Johnny” Simpson (Mary) of Pelham, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Public viewing for Ms. Debra Ann Simpson will be Friday, January 12, 2024; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Family visitation viewing for Ms. Debra Ann Simpson will be Saturday, January 13, 2024; from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Ms. Debra Ann Simpson will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024; at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Pelham, NC; with Pastor Gregory Hopkins will deliver the words of comfort.
Interment will follow in the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelham, NC.
