Derek Hairston

Eden, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Derek “Gold-Mouf” Hairston 33, of 1008 Haywood St. Eden, NC, who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC; surrounded by loved ones, family, and friends.

Derek was born on September 29th, 1989, in Eden, North Carolina. He was a graduate of John M. Morehead High School, class of 2008. There he wrestled and won the 2005–2006 State Championship, coining the wrestling name “Beatle.”

Derek was baptized at an early age at Fellowship Church (COOLJC), under the leadership of Bishop Phillip Calloway Sr. His favorite bible scripture and verse, that Derek often quoted, was Psalms 41.

Derek enjoyed spending time with his children, and he took “Great  Pleasure” in being in Grand Oaks hanging out and spending his days with the Blue Creek Boys (GOBC).

Gold-Mouf is preceded in death by his biological mother, Ramona Giles; and his grandfather, Mathew Giles; who was his “Right-Hand Man.”

Mr. Derek “Gold-Mouf” Hairston leaves to cherish his memory to:  His six children: Ashayla, England, Ivy, Noah, Noriega, and Miracle. His mother, Juanita Galloway (Eden. North Carolina). His aunt, Mary Perkins (Jerome). His six sisters, Pamela Joyner (Chris), Michalle Isom (Marc), Angela Hatchett (Raleigh, North Carolina), Cherise Hairston (Raleigh, North Carolina), Crystal Giles (Biological), and Tara Hairston (Biological). His two brothers, Jody Hairston (Biological) and Charles Galloway (Eden, North Carolina). A host of nieces and nephews. Special nieces and nephews, Nyla, NyKhia, Kinsley, Tiger, Titan, Legend, August, and Alanah. The Grand Oaks and Blue Creek Boys (GOBC). As well as a host of uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

Public viewing for Mr. Derek “Gold-Mouf” Hairston will be Friday, August 18, 2023; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price Street, Eden, NC 27288.

Family visitation viewing for Mr. Derek “Gold-Mouf” Hairston will be Saturday, August 19, 2023; from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price Street, Eden, NC 27288.

Funeral Services for Mr. Derek “Gold-Mouf” Hairston will be conducted 2:00pm Saturday, August 19, 2023; at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price Street, Eden, NC 27288.

Interment will follow at Giles Family Cemetery in Axton, Virginia.
