Dorothy Long Pyles

Milton, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Dorothy Eugene Long Pyles of 1443 Snatchburg Road, Milton, NC, who died Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Hospice Home of Alamance, Burlington, North Carolina.

She was a native of Caswell County, North Carolina the daughter of the late Aldophus Long and Annie Dodson Long, born September 21, 1929. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church where she was an active member for over sixty years.  As a member, she served on the usher board, the missionary board and sang in the choir.  She worked at Dan River Mills before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Pyles; two sons, James Pyles and John Pyles; one grandson, Timothy Pyles.

Her survivors are seven daughters, Margaret Pyles and Janie (Ervin) Pyles Farmer of Danville, Virginia, Doris (Rufus) Womack of Milton, North Carolina, Judy Miller of Greensboro, Louise Pyles of Danville, Virginia, Geneva (Harold) Scott of Milton, North Carolina and Darlene (Rhon) Hammond of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; one son, Littleton (Eva) Pyles of Milton, North Carolina.; three sisters, Gracie Harris of Blanch, North Carolina, Lillian (Ray) Allen of Brooklyn, New York and Jeraline Manning of San Diego, California; daughter-in-law, Peggy Pyles of Milton, North Carolina; 25 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. 

 (Per CDC Guidelines:  Facial Masks are required).

Private Funeral Service for Mrs. Dorothy Eugene Long Pyles will be Thursday, September 24, 2020 in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.  Pastor Angel Lea will deliver the words of comfort.  Interment will follow at  the Floral Hill Memory Gardens, Danville, Virginia at 2:30 pm.  Family and friends may meet and greet the family at that time.
