Leasburg, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing of Elder Nannie Maude Stewart Johnson of 8673 Hwy. 119 N. Leasburg, NC who passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024; at UNC Hospital, in Hillsborough, NC.
She was a native of Caswell County, NC the daughter of the late Johnny Stewart and Fannie Phillips Stewart, born June 30, 1932. She was a member of God's Temple Holiness Church, where she was a mother of the church and a minister.
She was an employee of Lorillard Tobacco Co. before retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Johnson; one son, Lonzy Johnson; three sisters, Mable Stewart, Inez Medley, and Flossie Graves; five brothers, Paul Phillip, George Stewart, Raymond Stewart, Charlie Stewart, and John Willis Stewart.
Elder Nannie Johnson leaves to cherish her memories to her three daughters, Curley J. Brandon of Leasburg, NC, Olean J. Moore (Clarence) of Leasburg, NC, and Gloria J. Smith (Stanley) of Milton, NC; two sons, Wayne Johnson (Jean) of Leasburg, NC, Benny Johnson (Gloria) of Danville, VA; two sisters, Josephine Chambers and Mildred Goods both of Milton, NC; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A viewing for Elder Nannie Stewart Johnson will be on Saturday, March 09, 2024, from 2 PM to 5 PM in the John & Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Family visitation will be on Saturday, March 09, 2024, from 6 pm to 7 pm at God's Temple Holiness Church 1580 Main St. Yanceyville, NC.
The funeral service for Elder Nannie Stewart Johnson will be on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Macedonia AME Church with Elder Brandon Daye officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia AME Church Cemetery.
