Pelham, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Ms. Elizabeth Abbott Russell of 3092 Red Marshall Rd. Pelham, NC who passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at The Penn Nursing Center in Reidsville, NC.
She was a native of Rockingham, NC, the daughter of the late Rev. Elmer E. Abbott and Bettie Adams Abbott, born July 9, 1934. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and a was an employee of Cobb Elementary School and North Elementary School as a custodian before retirement.
Elizabeth was a member of Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church, where she was mother of the church, deaconess, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the usher board. She was also a member of the Naomi Chapter Order of Eastern Star #613 of Pelham, NC.
She was married to Deacon Paul L. Russell Sr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul L. Russell Jr.; and one brother, Ananias Abbott.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories are daughter, Octavia Russell Williams (Bruce) of Pelham, NC; two brothers, Frank E. Abbott of Kinston, NC and Wayne Abbott (Shelby) of Reidsville, NC; three sisters, Annie G Abbott, Betty J. Abbott and Willa M. Abbott all of Ruffin, NC.; sister-in-law, Naomi H. Abbott of Eden, NC.; special nieces and neighbor, Glendora Russell Faucette (Paul) and Brandi Motley all of Pelham, NC; devoted God-son Terry Nunnally (Pattie) of Pelham, NC; a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be Saturday, June 24, 2023; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price St. Eden, NC.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 25, 2023, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral Services for Ms. Elizabeth Abbott Russell will be Sunday, June 25, 2023; 2:00 p.m. at Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church, Pelham, NC.
Interment will follow in the Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelham, NC.
