Reidsville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Ellen D. Watlington Turner who departed her earthly life, and was granted her angel wings for her heavenly home on March 14, 2021. She passed away peacefully at the Beacon Place Hospice Home in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mrs. Ellen was born on March 12, 1947 in Caswell County, North Carolina to the late George Calvin Watlington and Bertha Ann Blackwell Watlington.
Mrs. Ellen attended Caswell county public school system. She was known as a quiet and sweet lady who spoke only a few words. Mrs. Ellen was member of Mineral Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Pelham, North Carolina. She was a faithful member of the Senior church choir, where Mrs. Ellen was willing to miss a hair appointment verses missing choir rehearsal. Mrs. Ellen would laugh as she told her children that the Lord knows that she could sing a little bit. Now, Mrs. Ellen can sing around heaven all day!
Mrs. Ellen was an employee at Dan River Mills in Danville, Virginia for many years, then later she worked at the Reidsville Cleaners in Reidsville, North Carolina. Apart from employment, Mrs. Ellen was dedicated in raising her five children, and being a good wife to her beloved husband, Leroy Banks Turner of forty-two years. Her favorite pastimes were traveling to visit family and participating in family events. Mrs. Ellen will be truly missed!
In addition to Mrs. Ellen’s parents she was preceded in death by her by her two brothers, James Watlington and Jake Watlington; and six sisters, Geneva Hodnett, Idosa Watlington, Bertha Hunt, Odessa McLaughlin, Beatrice Watlington and Marjorie Jeffries; two grandchildren, Melvin L. Watlington, and Devontae Ingram.
Mrs. Ellen D. Watlington Turner leaves to cherish her precious memories to her husband, Leroy Banks Turner of the residence; one son, Maurice Turner of Graham, North Carolina; four daughters, Janice Ingram of Burlington, North Carolina, Barbaralene Sellars (Ricky), Shiryl Stokes (Tony), and Tammy Echols (Howard) all of Reidsville, North Carolina; one brother, Norman Watlington (Delores) of Milton, North Carolina; one sister, Wilson Watlington of Yanceyville, North Carolina; special friend, Dorothy “Dot” Southern of Reidsville, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, March 19, 2021 from 2 to 7 p. m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ellen D. Watlington Turner will be Saturday, March 20, 2021, 2:00 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home. Pastor Freddie Seabrook will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Pelham, North Carolina. (Per CDC Guidelines Facial Mask are required).
