Greensboro, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Evelyn Williamson Willis of 601 Lipscomb Rd. Greensboro, NC, who passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 in the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, NC.
She was a native of Caswell County, NC the daughter of the late Johnston Williamson and Ossie Lownes Williamson, born August 22, 1931. At an early age, she made preparation for this day when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Pearson Chapel AME Church where she served until she relocated to Maryland, but still continued to support her church. After relocating to Greensboro to be closer to her sisters, she attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC.
She was an employee of AT&T as a supervisor before retirement.
She was married to Robert D. Willis who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Irvin, Henry, Frank, and Howard Williamson; five sisters, Sallie Graves, Frances Lea, Julia Morse, Erobella Madkins and Mary "Leaky" Stroud.
Her survivors are one son, Donald Willis of Darnestown, MD; three sisters, Rosa W. Miller (Eddie), Gertrude W. Martin and Pauline W. Hairston all of Greensboro, NC; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. Please remember to follow CDC guidelines with everyone wearing protective gloves and masks.
Private Graveside Service will be Friday, May 1, 2020 in Blackwell Baptist Church Cemetery - Willis family section.
