Brown Summit, NC - Ninety-Three years of a life well lived began on October 9, 1929 in Cascade, Virginia. Mr. Floyd James Strange, Jr. departed this life on January 9,2023 at his residence in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He was born the first of six children to the late Floyd Bernard Strange and Beatrice Adams Strange of Cascade, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Olivia Little Strange; daughter, Linda Frenzola Strange Dillard; brothers, Clarence Strange and Olander Strange; sister, Marjorie Strange.
He received education in the Pennsylvania County Public Schools. Floyd worked on the family farm until he was employed at Spray Cotton Mill in Eden, NC. He worked there until retirement. Later, he worked with the janitorial staff at Martinsville Memorial Hospital and Irisburg Elementary School. He became a member of St. John Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Greene Moore. Floyd enjoyed listening to music, cruising, vacationing, and visiting friends and loved ones often. He was a good man with a kind heart. Floyd was loved by many people.
He leaves behind cherished memories for his family, daughters, Myra Gayle Hampton of Greensboro, NC, Carolyn Diane Bell (James)of Dumfries, VA; sister, Velma Roberson(Carl) of Fayetteville, NC; brother, Herbert Strange (Dorothy) of Cascade, VA; grandchildren, Tammy Dove (Melvin), Byrant Hampton both of Greensboro, NC, Kameno Bell (Kenyanna) of Montclair, NJ, Karauki Bell of Federal Way, WA; great-grandchildren Maya Dove, Melvin Dove, Devin Dillon of Greensboro, NC, Alyssa Bell, Nia Bell, Maya Bell of Montclair, NJ; sister-in-law, Ann Irving of Winston Salem, NC; extended family, Shirley Palmer, Kelley Palmer, Tricia Palmer, Channing Palmer-Wright, Dakota Palmer-Wright of Greensboro, NC, Roy King (Sheila) of Eden, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
A viewing for Mr. Floyd James Strange Jr. will be Sunday, January 15, 2023; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel in Eden, NC
Funeral Services for Mr. Floyd James Strange Jr. will be Monday, January 16, 2023; at 2:30pm with family arriving at 2:00 PM at St. John Baptist Church in Axton, VA.
Interment will follow at Strange Family Cemetery, Cascade, Virginia.
