Blanch, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Harvey Lewis Poteat of 7799 NC Hwy 62 N. Blanch, North Carolina, who passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Lister “Slue” Poteat and Alease Long Poteat; born December 26, 1944 in Caswell County, North Carolina.
Harvey was a member of Jones Cross Road Baptist Church, in Reidsville, North Carolina; where he was a member of the male chorus. Harvey was also a member of the Leasburg Masonic Lodge # 648 and he was active at the Reidsville Senior Citizen Group.
Harvey was an employee of the North Carolina Department of Correction in Blanch, North Carolina prior to retirement.
In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded by one sister Vera Poteat Ware.
Mr. Harvey Lewis Poteat leaves to cherish his memories to his two daughters, Michelle Ferrell of Martinsville, Virginia; and Tonya Poteat of Yanceyville, North Carolina; one son, Harvey Lewis Poteat, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister, Shirley Dunston (Robert) of Greensboro, North Carolina; two brothers, Harry Poteat of Danville, Virginia, and Abun Keen of Yanceyville, North Carolina; a loving friend and caregiver, Nancy Hicks; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, November 27, 2020 from 2 to 8 pm in Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time.
Graveside Services for Mr. Harvey Lewis Poteat will be Saturday, November 28, 2020, 12 Noon in the Floral Hill Memory Garden Cemetery in Danville, Virginia.
