Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. James "Buck" Womack of 175 Nicks-Hooper Rd. Yanceyville, NC, who passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at his residence.
James " Buck" Womack was born February 20, 1950, in Yanceyville, NC to the late James William Womack and Annie Mae Ramsey Womack.
“Buck” joined Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. His passion was singing in the Male Course, and he loved leading and singing his favorite song “Oh There’s a Man”.
He graduated from Caswell County High School, class of 1968. After graduation “Buck” began his career at Good Year Tire & Rubber Company in Danville, VA., where he worked faithfully until retirement.
James loved hunting, running his dogs, skeet shooting, fishing, playing softball, baseball and planting his vegetable garden. After retirement he enjoyed attending his grandchildren football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, track, volleyball, and soccer games. He also yielded great delight from attending other school events such as, school chorus, school cheerleading and traveling cheerleading competitions. He looked forward to traveling with his daughter and son-in-law along with his son-in-law’s family to Myrtle Beach, SC during the Thanksgiving holiday.
“Buck” enjoyed home cooked meals made by his special nieces.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Womack, and brother James Ramsey.
James is survived by his wife, Annie E Womack of the residence; one daughter Minister Melissa W. Baker (Bishop Rory C. Baker, Sr) of Greensboro, NC; one son James (Jack) Otis Womack, Jr. of Yanceyville, NC; Seven grandchildren, R.J. Baker, of Norfolk, VA; Rylea C. Baker, Raelyn Baker, Ryan Baker, Rayne Baker, Jasmine Baker and Justice Baker, all of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, June Ramsey, of Washington, DC and David Womack, of Greensboro, NC; two sisters-in-law, Myra Lownes, of Washington, DC and Vickie Rivers (James) of Indian Trail, NC; one brother-in-law, Elbert Lownes, Jr., of Orlando, FL; three special nieces, Sandra Womack and Sylvia Womack of Yanceyville, NC and Lily W. Sinfeya, of Greensboro, NC; one special nephew, William Womack (Deda), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Public viewing will be Thursday, November 23, 2023; from 4 pm to 7 pm in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mr. James "Buck" Womack will be Friday, November 24, 2023; 1:00 PM with family arriving at 12:30 PM at Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor A.N. Grier II will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Yanceyville, NC.
