James C. Dantzler Obituary

Yanceyville, NC - It Is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. James Christopher Dantzler of 591 Marshall Graves Rd. Yanceyville, NC, who passed away Saturday February 10, 2024.

James Christopher, affectionately known as Chris, was born to the union of James Dantzler, Jr. and Willetta Rogers Dantzler in Cleveland Ohio on July 3, 1960. At the young age of 3, Chris and his family moved to Southern California. He attended Roosevelt School for the Handicapped in Pasadena, California, from age 5 to completion at the age of 21. As a child, Chris liked riding his bike, studying insects, and drawing. He was also a fan of the superheroes from the DC universe. That included Superman, Batman, Spiderman etc. Although Chris did not attend church often, he did love the Lord and listened to church on the radio and prayed when God touched his heart. Chris also enjoyed responding excitedly to the preached word and to gospel music.

In 1993 Chris relocated to North Carolina to be near his family. He first resided at Corbett Family Home run by Mrs. Mae and Ms. Vickie. Chris enjoyed his time living in Caswell County. He spent many days sitting out on the deck and enjoying the scenery of the country. Later on, he moved to New Beginnings run by Mrs. Ann Long. Chris loved Mrs. Ann and her staff. During his remaining years at New Beginnings, those were some of his happiest years.  Chris enjoyed watching The Price is Right, and various seasonal parades. Chris especially loved the music of Michael Jackson, often singing his favorite songs at the top of his lungs with joy.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, James Dantzler Jr, Aunts Maxine Miller, Bonita Richmond, Lillie Doris Fox, Margaree Pittman, Gertie Mae Lynn, and Barbara Jean Robinson. Chris is survived by his siblings, Kathleen Akosua-Annette, Melanie Adwoa-Yvette, Adelle Juliette, Sara Rose Justina, Xavier Lamont, Nathan Dominic, Bonita Yvonne, and Noah Gregory. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Maya, Melanie Odessa, Matthew, Nautika, Kamora, LaRon, Dion, Trevon, and Tiffany. In addition, he leaves behind his aunts Annabelle Dean and Faye Rogers and his uncles, James Rogers, and Charlie Billy Miller. And finally, he leaves a host of cousins and great nieces and nephews.
