Milton, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Janet Winstead Stewart of 665 McCann Road, Milton, North Carolina. She departed this life on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Janet was the beloved daughter of the late Raymond Winstead and Lovelene Stewart Winstead, born on May 01, 1953, in Caswell County, North Carolina.
As a native and lifelong resident of Caswell County, where she attended the local public schools, and she graduated from Piedmont Community in 1989 receiving her diploma.
She was employed at Dan River Mills in Danville, Virginia for 20 years prior to the textile company closure. Then Janet went to work for Collins & Aikman in Roxboro, North Carolina, where she retired after 20 years of employment.
Spiritually, Janet loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, in Semora, North Carolina; where she served in many capacities as the Church Mother, a Deaconess, a member of the Senior Choir, and Usher Board.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her twin Jeanette Gunn, and her three other sisters Rose Winstead, Sue Lee Turpin, and Suzzette Winstead.
Mrs. Janet Winstead Stewart leaves to cherish her memories with her beloved husband Clarence Herbert Stewart of the home; two loving daughters Tonia Stewart (Glen) and LaToya Stewart (Rick) all of Milton, North Carolina; four grandchildren Morgan McCaden of Suffolk, Virginia, Justin Stewart of Greensboro, North Carolina, Joshua Stewart, and JaNessa Stewart both of Milton, North Carolina; one great grandchild Khengston Stewart. She also leaves her siblings Elaine Clayborne of Semora, North Carolina, Douglas Smith of Milton, North Carolina, and Raymond Winstead, Jr. of Washington, DC; three aunts Pansy Stewart, Ernestine Jay, and Ollie Mae Stewart; four sisters-in-law Marie Farmer, Lara McCain, Ernestine Barnette (Charlie), and Gladys Lipscomb (Miller) and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.
The family will be receiving guests at her daughter’s residence: 593 McCann Road, Milton, North Carolina.
A public viewing for Mrs. Janet Winstead Stewart will be on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Family visitation viewing for Mrs. Janet Winstead Stewart will be on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, in Semora, NC.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Janet Winstead Stewart will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, in Semora, NC. Pastor P.D. Medley will deliver the “Words of Comfort.”
