John Wesley McCollum Jr.

Eden, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. John Wesley McCollum Jr., age 62, of 1118 First St. Eden, North Carolina. He transitioned peacefully from this earthly life to eternal life on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Ancora Compassionate Care Hospice Home in Wentworth, North Carolina.

John Wesley McCollum, Jr., affectionately known as “Boy” was born on February 01,1962 in Rockingham County, North Carolina to Judith Arnell McCollum, and the late John Wesley McCollum Sr.

He attended the Rockingham County Public School system. Boy was of the Methodist faith, and he worked in the textile and construction industry. In his leisure time, Boy enjoyed fishing especially with his nephew Fred. He was a very friendly and outgoing person who had never met a stranger. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, relative, and friend.

In addition to his father, Boy was preceded in death by his two sisters, Susan Slade, and Sherrie Perkins, and one granddaughter.

John Wesley McCollum, Jr., leaves to cherish his memories;  his mother, Judith Arnell McCollum, of Eden, North Carolina; two sons, Shawnelle Juqarn McCollum of Illinois, and I’Kema Jazz McCollum of Oklahoma; one god-sent daughter, Ajahna Miller of Eden, North Carolina; one grandson, Ahmiliyan Miller of Eden, North Carolina; four sisters, Tammie  Lowe(Brad), Janet  McCollum(Phil), all of Reidsville, North Carolina; Tonya Appiah of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Shantone  Hairston of Eden, North Carolina; one brother, Danuel also known as “Dano” Hairston of Eden North Carolina; three aunts, Marion McCollum of Martinsville, Virginia, Marrietta Johnson and Mary (Leonard) Smith all of Eden, North Carolina; one uncle, William McCollum of Eden, North Carolina; a very special friend, Amanda Talley of Madison, North Carolina; a good friend of the family Nya, and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives, and friends who will truly miss him dearly.

A Public viewing for Mr. John Wesley McCollum Jr. will be on Thursday, July 25, 2024; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Wesley McCollum Jr. will be conducted at 2:00pm on Friday, July 26, 2024; at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.

Interment will follow at Hairston Cemetery, 174 Shady Grove Road, Eden, NC.
