Johnathan "Jay Jay" Tyrell Swann

Burlington, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Johnathan Tyrell "Jay Jay" Swann 49, of 1446 Morningside Drive, Burlington, North Carolina, who passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021.

He was the son of Mary Johnson Swann and Cleophus Swann and the grandson of the late Johnny and Emma Norell Poole Johnson, born November 11, 1971 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Newark, New Jersey and after moving back to Yanceyville, North Carolina, he attended and graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School Class of 1989. He later attended and graduated from Dudley School of Cosmetology in Kernersville, North Carolina.  He became a stylist with A Cut Above The Rest Beauty Salon in Newark, New Jersey, Mary Swann & Company Beauty Salon, in Newark, New Jersey, and Mary Swann's Pamper Palace Beauty Salon, in Orange, New Jersey.

Jay Jay as he was called by many, was a Red Cross Certified Life Guard since 2008. He was employed as a Life Guard for Newark Recreation Boyland Pool, Newark, New Jersey before moving back to North Carolina.

Jay Jay was baptized and became a member of Pinnacle Ministries in Burlington, North Carolina.

He leaves to cherish his memories son, Jahcle' Tyrell Swann of Reidsville, North Carolina; parents, Mary Johnson Swann and Cleophus Swann of Union, New Jersey; sister, Erica Fortenberry (David) of Roselle, New Jersey; brothers, Peter Lipscomb (Erica) of Haw River, North Carolina and Earl Graves of Leasburg, North Carolina; aunts, Kathy Tomlinson ( Edwin ) of Union, NJ and Cheryl Polk ( Fred ) of Las Vegas, NV;  close friends, Willie Arthur Dillard and Demarcus Jaquae Dixon both of Burlington, North Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, July 30, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.  (Facial Mask are required).

Funeral Services for Johnathan Tyrell "Jay Jay" Swann will be Saturday, July 31, 2021, 11:00 a.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
