Providence, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Lena Yancey Rogers age 78, of 695 Seamster Road, Providence, North Carolina, who passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 in the Hospice of Rockingham, Wentworth, North Carolina.
Lena was a native of Caswell County, North Carolina, born on August 17, 1942 to the late Zibe Yancey and Lucille Nunnally Yancey.
Lena graduated from Caswell County High School . Prior to Lena’s retirement, she was employee of Dan River, Mills in Danville, Virginia.
Lena accepted Christ and joined Red Hill Baptist Church in Pelham, North Carolina, where she sung in the Chancellor and the Senior Choir.
In addition to Lena’s parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Rogers; two sons, Maurice Yancey, and Donnell Rogers; two sisters, Minnie Wilson and Corenta Smith; three brothers, Thomas Yancey, Zibe Yancey, Jr., and David Yancey.
Mrs. Lena Yancey Rogers leaves to cherish her memories to her: four daughters, Paulette Badiabo and Danielle Rogers both of Raleigh, North Carolina, Teresa Rogers of Washington, District of Columbia, and Tammy Yancey of Thomasville, North Carolina; two sons, Richard Rogers (Jackie) of Reidsville, North Carolina and Weldon Rogers (Gwen) of Providence, North Carolina; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Glenn of Durham, North Carolina, Maggie Jackson of New Jersey, and Bertha Yancey of Lynchburg, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and cherished friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, January 15, 2021 from 2 to7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lena Yancey Rogers will be Saturday, January 16, 2021 3:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home. Pastor Gregory Hopkins will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelham, North Carolina.
*Attendance at the funeral service will be limited to fifty (50) individuals and attendees will be pre-determined by the family*.
