Lucinda Cobb Bigelow

Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Lucinda Cobb Bigelow of 4333 NC Hwy 86 North, Yanceyville, NC; who passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023; at the Landings of Rockingham Assisted Living Facility in Reidsville, North Carolina

Lucinda Cobb Bigelow was the daughter of the late Earlie Cobb and Synda Cobb Williamson born on July 02, 1934; in Caswell County, North Carolina. She graduated from Caswell County Training School.

Lucinda married James Odell Bigelow on June 22, 1968. She began her career at Hanover Mills and soon celebrated the birth of two children; Valerie Gail and James Earl. After her stent at Hanover, she worked at the Brian Center, Yanceyville North Carolina. Shortly after, Lucinda’s role changed, and she transitioned to a stay-at-home mother and grandmother.

Lucinda loved her family and cherished every moment she could with them. On Sunday’s Lucinda frequented church and afterwards she prepared a big meal for family gatherings. Lucinda also loved watching UNC basketball and the Atlanta Braves.

Lucinda was reared in a strong Christian faith-based home. At an early age she became a member of the New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church in Ruffin, North Carolina. She diligently served as a member and expressed her love for the Lord until her death. All will remember Lucinda for her bright smile, her belief in doing things right, kindness, gentle spirit, and the expression of love displayed for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Lucinda was preceded in death by her husband, James Odell Bigelow of 53 years; her daughter Valerie Gail Wiley; her three sisters: Mary Cobb Graves Yancey, Emma Cobb, and Bessie Ophelia Cobb Graves; her four brothers: Bobby Cobb, Earl Cobb, Langston Cobb, and George Cobb.

Lucinda Cobb Bigelow leaves to cherish her memories to her beloved son:  James Earl Bigelow (Brenda) of Browns Summit, North Carolina; three grandchildren: Ronald Wiley Jr., Brianna Wiley, and Cayden Bigelow; one great grandchild: Shiloh Jett Wiley; and a host of other family and friends.

A Viewing for Mrs. Lucinda Cobb Bigelow will be Saturday, March 18, 2023; from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral.

A Visitation for Mrs. Lucinda Cobb Bigelow will be Sunday, March 19, 2023; from 1:30p.m. to 2:00 p.m at New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lucinda Cobb Bigelow will be Sunday, March 19, 2023; at 2:00pm at New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruffin, NC.
