Mae Swanson Lee

Lawrenceville, New Jersey - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Mae Swanson Lee; age 96, of Lawrenceville, New Jersey formerly of Axton, Virginia; who went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 10, 2022; at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mae was the daughter of the late  Reverend Claude Swanson and Lottie Mae Easley Swanson; born in Gary, West Virginia.

Mae was a former resident of Brooklyn, New York, before moving to Lawrenceville, New Jersey, 57 years ago. She was a retired educator of the Trenton Board of Education, where she taught for more than 25 years.

Mae earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Trenton State College. She was a true believer that the gift of education was an inalienable right for all persons.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by his one sister Gloria Swanson Johnson; and his three brothers, Calvin Swanson, Reverend Joseph W. Swanson Sr., and Reverend Claude R. Swanson, Sr.

Mrs. Mae Swanson Lee leaves to cherish her memories to her husband of 62 years, Dr. Wendell Lee of the home; her son and daughter-in-law; Wendell and Loretta Lee; and her grandchildren Tyler and Zachary from Dallas, Texas; one sister, Lois Coleman of Washington, District of Columbia; sister-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Visitation/Viewing for Mrs. Mae Swanson Lee will be Monday, November 21, 2022; from 11:00am to 12:00noon at Christ Temple United Holy Church in Axton, Virginia.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mae Swanson Lee will be Monday, November 21, 2022; at 12:00 noon at Christ Temple United Holy Church in Axton, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the family cemetery at Christ Temple United Holy Church, 2867 Martin Drive, Axton, Virginia 24054.
