Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Margaret Virginia Graves Garland, of 112 Aldridge Road, Yanceyville, North Carolina and formerly of Milton, North Carolina who made her transition peacefully surrounded by her children on Thursday, October 15, 2020.
Mrs. Margaret Virginia Graves Garland was a native of Caswell County, North Carolina daughter of the late John Wesley Graves, Sr. and Mary Irma Oliver Graves Miles.
Margaret had many passions and strengths like praying, sharing her faith in God, being an inspiring mother and going to church. She was a life long member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church, where she loved music which led her to sing in various choirs. She was a member of the Missionary Ministry and the Culinary Committee.
She also enjoyed the love and attention of her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.
Before retiring she enjoyed working as an administrator at New Beginnings Family Care Home in Yanceyville, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Garland; grandson, Prentice Graves; siblings, Mary Helen, David, James and John.
Margaret was the proud and loving mother of eight children: five daughters, Virginia Graves (Kenneth) of Yanceyville, North Carolina, Bettie Wallace of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Brenda Buchanan (Edward) of Danville, Virginia, Shirley Warren (John) of Mebane, North Carolina and Janice Garland of Yanceyville, North Carolina; three sons, Charles Garland (Wanda) and Larry Garland (Deborah) of Milton, North Carolina and Earl Garland (Elise) of Greensboro, North Carolina; three sisters, Ida Kimber of Burlington, North Carolina, Katie Holman of Harrisburg, PA and Mattie Love of Danville, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Sunday, October 18, 2020 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
Funeral Services for Mrs. Margaret Virginia Graves Garland will be Monday, October 19, 2020, 2:00 pm with family arriving at 1:30 at Blackwell Missionary Church Parking Lot. Pastor DeAngelo Lewis will deliver the words of comfort.
Interment will follow in the Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 4777 US-158, Yanceyville, NC .
