Mary Hairston Mills

Eden, NC- It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Mary Mills, age 71, of 804 Holland St. Eden, NC who passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022; at her residence.

Mary was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina on March 03, 1951; to the late Major Hairston and Caroline Turner Hairston.

She later received her GED in Michigan. When Mary relocated back to North Carolina, she became an employee at Fieldcrest Mills in Eden, North Carolina.

Mary was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church in Eden, North Carolina; where she sung in the church choir. Her favorite pastimes were doing Missionary work and being a servant to family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Mills, her two sons, Clifford Hairston, and Jermaine D. Wright; her two sisters, Doris Blackstock, and Mildred Milton; and her three brothers, Jimmy Lee Hairston, David King Hairston, and Luther Hairston.

Mrs. Mary Mills leaves to cherish her memories to her two sons, Anthony Hairston of Eden, North Carolina and Christopher Wright of Greensboro, North Carolina; her brother, Willie Hairston of Baltimore, Maryland; her daughter-in-law, Lori Keen Hairston; her 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; her goddaughter, Kenya Milton; and her caregiver, Nicci Irvin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.

A Viewing for Mrs. Mary Hairston Mills will be Monday, January 02, 2023; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel in Eden, NC.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Hairston Mills will be Tuesday, January 03, 2023; at 1:00pm at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church at 146 Fisher Hill Road in Eden, NC.

Interment will follow at Hamlin Cemetery in Eden, NC.
