MILTON, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Mary Rose Lipscomb Thaxton, 77, of 10423 Hwy 62 North, Milton, North Carolina, who died Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Sovah Health, Danville, Virginia.
Mrs. Mary Rose Lipscomb Thaxton was born in Halifax County on February 11, 1943 to the late Algie Lipscomb and Mary Ruth Brandon Lipscomb.
Mrs. Mary was a member of High Street Baptist Church in Milton, North Carolina and served in the Missionary Circle. She was employed with Dan River Mills prior to retirement.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mary Rose Lipscomb Thaxton was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thaxton Jr; one son, Tony Thaxton; two sisters, Katie Davis and Beulah Lipscomb; five brothers, Billy Richmond, Eddie Lipscomb, Algie Lipscomb Jr., Sonny Lipscomb and Abraham Lipscomb.
Mrs. Mary Rose Lipscomb Thaxton leaves to cherish her beloved memories to her: two daughters, Ethel Thaxton and Pamara Lea (Joseph) both of Milton, North Carolina; four sisters, Martha Hamlett and Sally Robertson of Danville, Virginia; Clara Lipscomb of Blairs, Virginia and Maggie Vinston of Milton, North Carolina; three brothers, Charlie Lipscomb and Guy Lipscomb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Millner Lipscomb (Gladys) of Milton, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Maude Thaxton of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time.
(Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Rose Lipscomb Thaxton will be Friday, January 29, 2021, 1:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Floral Hill Memory Gardens, Danville, Virginia.
*Attendance at the funeral will be limited to fifty (50) individuals and attendees will be pre-determined by the family*.
