Blanch, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Mattie Williamson Baynes, 94, formerly of 4515 County Home Road, Blanch, North Carolina, who died Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Brian Center, Yanceyville, North Carolina.
Mrs. Mattie Williamson Baynes was a native of Caswell County, North Carolina born on September 7, 1925 to the late Robert Lenzy Williamson and Luella Moore Williamson.
Mrs. Mattie Williamson Baynes worked as a Telephone Operator in New York before retirement. She was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mattie Williamson Baynes was also preceded in death by her husband, Archie Collins Baynes; four sisters, Ophelia Smith, Annie Johnson, Deloris Williamson and Selma Williamson; four brothers, Clarence, Arnold, Sonny and Rudy Williamson.
Mrs. Mattie Williamson Baynes leaves to cherish her beloved memories to her: two daughters, Virginia Adams of Bronx, New York and Donna Lynn Baynes of Yonkers, New York; two sons, Lawrence Baynes of Blanch, North Carolina and Derek Cortez Baynes (Kaori) of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Evelyn John of Melbrook , Alabama; 4 grandchildren, Ken, Rina, Darnell and Ronnie; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be held on Saturday, August, 15, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
Funeral Service will be Sunday, August 16, 2020 1:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Hamer Baptist Church Cemetery.
