Minister Raymond McCoy Evans, Jr.

Whitsett, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Minister Raymond McCoy Evans, Jr. of Yanceyville, North Carolina. Minister Raymond M. Evans, Jr., affectionately known as "Brother" age 66, was called to rest eternally in the house of the Lord on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, while resting peacefully at the Veterans Affairs Hospice Unit in Durham, North Carolina. Brother was born October 21, 1957, in Yanceyville, North Carolina. He was the third child of Raymond M. Evans, Sr., and Christine Gunn Evans.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his younger brother; Christopher Lee Evans.

After graduating from Bartlett Yancey High School, Raymond enlisted in the United States Army. There he served his country faithfully. He attended Big Ben Community College and retired from Red Onion Correctional Center in Pound, Virginia. Raymond accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his mother, Christine Gunn Evans, of Yanceyville, NC; two daughters, Daniela C. Evans, of Whitsett, NC, and Laura F. Evans, of York, PA; two grandsons, Paul Christian and Henry McCoy, both of Whitsett, NC; four sisters, Annie Evans and Barbara Evans, both of Yanceyville, NC, Eva E. Reston and Tara Evans, both of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Gregory Evans (Kathy), of Nottingham, MD; former wife, Inge Evans, of Gibsonville, NC; an uncle-in-law, Oscar L. Daniels, of Baltimore, MD; numerous nieces, one nephew, and other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving guests at the residence of his sister Barbara Evans  at  2694 Old North Carolina Highway 86 North, Yanceyville, NC.

Public viewing for Minister Raymond Evans, Jr. will be on Monday, April 1, 2024; from 2 pm to 7 pm in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm at Providence Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Minister Raymond Evans, Jr. will be on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, 12:00  noon at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 185 Wilbur Webster Road Yanceyville, North Carolina.

Interment will follow in the Providence Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, North Carolina Highway 86 South, Yanceyville, NC.
