Blanch, NC – It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Minister Willie Calvin Lipscomb 71, of 6582 Blanch Rd. Blanch, NC who passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in the Hock Pavilion Hospice in Durham, NC.
Minister Willie Calvin Lipscomb was one of three children born on June 20, 1951 to the late Steward Lipscomb and a living mother, Lelia Lipscomb in Blanch, NC.
Minister Willie Calvin Lipscomb was a 1968 graduate of Caswell County High School.
Minister Willie Calvin Lipscomb confessed Christ at a young age and joined River Zion Baptist Church in Blanch, NC. Prior to accepting the call into ministry and being ordained he served on the Usher Board Ministry, Sunday School Ministry, Missionary Ministry, and he sung with the Male Chorus. He loved the Lord and continuously attended numerous theological seminary schools.
Minister Willie Calvin Lipscomb retired from the City of Greensboro Water Plant in Greensboro, NC. He loved sports and coached a girls’ softball team for numerous years. His leisure time was spent fishing, playing horseshoe, and watching sports on television.
Minister Willie Calvin Lipscomb was preceded in death by his father Steward Lipscomb. He leaves his cherished memories to his beloved mother Lelia Lipscomb of 105 years; two daughters, Laura Brower (Darin) of Blanch, NC, and Latish Murphy (Eric) of Denton, TX; a sister, Patricia Colvin of Virginia Beach; a brother, James Lipscomb ( Mary ) of Charlotte, NC; a brother in love, Michael Oliver of Philadelphia, PA, six grandchildren, Olivia Mackey, Lauren Brower, Rashad Brower, Joshua Murphy, Mya Murphy and Jordan Murphy; four great-grandchildren, Josiah Brower, Jayden Brower, Julian Brower, and Jionni Brower; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
A viewing will be Friday from 2 to 7 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home (PER CDC GUIDELINES: FACIAL MASKS ARE REQUIRED).
Funeral Services for Minister Willie Calvin Lipscomb will be Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 2:00 pm River Zion Baptist Church with family arriving at 1:30. Pastor Alvis A. Alston will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the River Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Blanch, NC.
