Cascade, VA - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Alvin Boyd Wilson of 720 Cascade Mill Road, in Cascade, Virginia. Alvin was born November 01, 1955, in Henry County, Virginia and peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Carilion Hospital, in Roanoke, Virginia.
Alvin was the son to Mr. Mellon Benjamin Wilson and Annie Martin Wilson. He was a graduate of Tunstall High School in Dry Fork, VA, Class of 1975.
A faithful servant to his country, Alvin proudly served in the United States Navy. He retired with honor and distinction, having received an honorable discharge after 18 years of dedicated military service. His commitment to duty reflected his strength, discipline, and love for his nation.
He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Cascade, Virginia.
Alvin had a lifelong love for the outdoors and nature, cultivated during his childhood on his father’s farm where he enjoyed tending to animals. He loved working on cars and taking the boat out to fish. Alvin also enjoyed the company of family and friends, always bringing laughter and warmth to any gathering. He was affectionately known as “the favorite uncle,” a title he wore with pride, and one earned through his genuine kindness, humor, and deep connection he shared with his nieces and nephews and those around him.
In addition to his father, Alvin was preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin Frank Wilson.
Those left to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Mrs. Annie Martin Wilson of Cascade, VA; his devoted daughter, April Reed of New Orleans, LA; one beloved granddaughter, Camille Dunomes of New Orleans, LA; four caring sisters, Gwendolyn Holland (Louis) of College Park, MD, Gloria W. Kirby (Alonzo) of Axton, VA, Anna W. Warren (Minister Ronnie) of Cascade, VA, and Ruth W. Smith (Phil) of Cascade, VA; two faithful brothers, Calvin Wilson (Minister Mickey) of Jacksonville, NC, and Steve Wilson (Lisa) of Cascade, VA; a cherished sister-in-law, Rita Wilson of Eden, NC; aunt, Della Wilson of Axton, VA; along with a wide circle of cherished family members, nieces, nephews, and treasured friends who brought joy to his life and now carry his memory forward.
Mr. Alvin Boyd Wilson will be remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering commitment to his family and legacy of love, service, and strength.

Public viewing for Mr. Alvin Boyd Wilson will be on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel, 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.
Funeral service for Mr. Alvin Boyd Wilson will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Cascade, VA.
Interment will follow in the Wilson Family Cemetery, Cascade, VA, with military honors from the United States Navy and Martinsville & Henry County, Virginia Veteran's Honor Guard.
