Danville, VA - Mr. Augusta James “Douche” Adams, age 78, peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Augusta was born on July 25, 1947, in Pittsylvania County to the late Mr. Jessie Adams, Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Lee Adams-Carter. Douche played basketball for the Southside Rams as a center during his high school years, and he was also a part of the “A Division Champs” in the City League. Augusta was a proud graduate of the Southside High School Class of 1967 and was their alumni treasurer. On May 15, 1971, he married the love of his life, the late Brenda Joyce Younger. Their bond was one of unwavering devotion, not only to each other but to their family and loved ones. In their blessed union, two children were born, and their love for one another served as an example to all who knew them.
Douche was of the Baptist faith and a dedicated member of New Mine Creek Progressive Primitive Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a trustee, usher board, kitchen committee, pastor aide and custodian. He was a humble leader for his church family.
Douche began his professional life during high school, driving the school bus. After high school he joined the US Army on a buddy system, on June 28, 1967, through March 1970. Douche also played basketball during his army career as a center on the Wuerzburg Warriors Team in Germany, from 1968 - 1969. Once Douche completed his service with the US Army, he served in the Reserves. Afterwards Douche was employed by Goodyear Rubber and Tire Company for over 30 years, where he retired on August 01, 2002. Douche actively served on the Goodyear Retirement Committee. After retiring he found that bowling and his yard work was not enough for him, therefore Douche went back into the work industry for Fisher & Watkins for 20 years and he later joined his family at Fulton-Walton Funeral Home and Cremation Services until his death.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife Douche was preceded in death by one sister, Roxie Adams; one sister-in-law, Betty Lee Adams; and one niece, Tanja Adams.
Douche leaves to cherish his memories with one son Jermaine Montiel Adams and one daughter Shara Adams-Tuck both of Danville, VA; four grandchildren, Cassidy Tuck of Danville, VA, Jasmine Trotter, of Burlington, NC, Erica Clyburn of Danville, VA, Jocelyn Tuck of Roxboro, NC; and three great grandchildren, Charleigh McGhee, Kinsleigh Outlaw, and Reign Jackson all of Roxboro, NC. He is also survived by his brother, Jesse Adams, Jr. of Petersburg, VA; three aunts Evelyn Adams-Seldon of Hampton, VA, Catherine Motley and Sadie Motley both of Danville, VA; and four brothers-in-law, William “June” Younger, John Younger (Evonne), Ronnie Younger, and Billy Clark (Karen) all of Danville, VA; three nieces, Jennifer Finley of Beacon, NY, Rita Charles, and Tammy Adams both of Richmond, VA; a cousin that was like a sister to him Zennie Glass, of Danville, VA; and a best friend who was like a brother to him, Wayne Harris of Danville, VA who was always by side; a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones; and Douche’s extended family who would always gather for breakfast in the mornings before going to work.
Douche picked up the torch from the love of his life, of making her famous “sweet potato pie” that were famous among friends and family. He loved to watch wrestling and sports. He had a true love for bowling, and we can’t forget the pride that he put into his yard work, so much so that he won an award for it. He was a true servant of God, wherever you needed him, he was there
