Mr. Charles Elwood Garland

Milton, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful transition of          Mr. Charles Elwood Garland age 67, of 301 Hamlet Road in Milton, North Carolina on Friday, November 14, 2025, at his residence.

Charles was the son of the late Earl and Margaret Graves Garland born on November 25, 1957, in Caswell County, North Carolina.

He attended Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina. Subsequently, Charles proudly served as a United States Army Veteran furthering his career by actively serving his country. Charles started his new life as a supervisor at Burlington Industries Textile Manufacturing Company in Reidsville, North Carolina. He further demonstrated his influential leadership by becoming a business owner of Garland Janitorial Services, LLC in Milton, North Carolina, prior to his retirement.

For many years Charles attended Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church in Yanceyville, North Carolina as well as Kingdom Hall to broaden his spiritual awareness. Even while facing life’s challenges, Charles never complained. He was a man who truly walked in purpose “by serving God-Jehovah and by serving others” by willingly using his God given talents.

Charles was a family man, and he did not just love his immediate family, he loved his siblings as well “he was a true “big brother.” He focused on being a proud “father figure” to Tiffany, Tonia, and Troy. He was not just instrumental in their lives but in helping, his great niece Christina Buchanan, affectionately known as “Bright Eyes” and his godchildren Lakiah and Evan Garland by directing, sharing his wisdom, and encouraging all of them as they grew up and/or developed into adulthood.

Charles leaves to cherish memories with the love of his life, his loving and devoted wife, Wanda Mouzon Garland whom he affectionately called his “Boo”, forever memories of their travels, shopping, dining out, and spending time with family and friends. Charles will be deeply missed by his five sisters Virginia Graves (Kenneth) of Yanceyville, North Carolina, Betty Wallace of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Brenda Buchanan (Edward) of Danville, Virginia, Shirley Warren (John) of Mebane, North Carolina, and Janice Garland (Tony) of Yanceyville, North Carolina; his two brothers Larry Garland (Deborah) of Milton, North Carolina, and Earl Garland (Elise) of High Point, North Carolina; his mother-in-law Dorothy Strayhorn of Graham, North Carolina, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law all of Baltimore, Maryland, and one sister-in-law of Mebane, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.

Public viewing for Mr. Charles Elwood Garland will be on Friday, November 21, 2025; from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Family visitation viewing for Mr. Charles Elwood Garland will be on Saturday, November 22, 2025; from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church, in Yanceyville, NC.

Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Elwood Garland will be conducted at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church, in Yanceyville, NC.

Interment will follow in Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, in Yanceyville, NC.
