Born in Rockingham County NC, on December 22, 1971, to Mazie Murphy and the Late Benny Murphy, Christopher grew up in a loving home and community. He attended Laurel Park High school and was known for his love and skill for the game of football, because of his passion for the game Christopher was sought after by several colleges for recruitment until he suffered an injury that would hinder his recruitment to those colleges. Christopher accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church. He was known for his love for the “Washington Commanders” and could be heard on any given day, letting others know “Big Bird will fly in any weather”. In his past time “Big Bird” loved to be around family and friends and he could be found sitting “under the tree” or faithfully taking care of his mother.
