Morrisville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Cleophus Swann of 2648 Bristol Creek Drive, in Morrisville, North Carolina. He passed away on Saturday, May 09, 2026, at Duke Raleigh Hospital, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Cleophus was born on May 24, 1950, in Caswell County, North Carolina, to the late Floyd White Sr. and Bernice Swann White. He was lovingly raised by his late grandparents, Fletcher Swann Sr. and Ninnie Eugene Swann.
He received his education from the local public schools, and he graduated from Caswell County, High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina. Later in life Cleophus furthered his education and personal development, receiving his degree in accounting.
Cleophus joined and served our country as a proud veteran of the United States Army. After honorable discharge he pursued his career as an Accountant for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) until his retirement. He also attended Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Yanceyville, North Carolina. In his leisure time he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Cleophus was preceded in death by his son Jonathan “JJ” Tyrell Swann; his two sisters Antricilla Howard, and Cynthia White; his three brothers Floyd White Jr., Ronnie White, and Frankie White.
Mr. Cleophus Swann leaves to cherish his precious memories with his beloved wife Mary Johnson Swann of the home; his daughter Minister Erica Fortenberry (Minister David) of Roselle, New Jersey; his sister Elder Saundra White-Pinchback (Olanda) of Danville, Virginia; his aunt Inez Swann-Lambert (Donald) of Yanceyville, North Carolina; his three grandchildren Kailah Ayesha Cleo Fortenberry, Khyri Jamal Cleophus O’Neil Fortenberry both of New Jersey, and Jahcle’ Tyrell Swann of Reidsville, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many cherished friends
A public viewing and family visitation for Mr. Cleophus Swann will be on Saturday, May 16, 2026; from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Funeral services for Mr. Cleophus Swann will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 16, 2026; in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Military rite will follow from the United State Army Honor Guard.
Repast will follow in the Fulton-Walton Fellowship Center.
