Axton, VA - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Danny Murphy 64 of 7375 Morgan Ford Road, Axton, Virginia. He passed away on Wednesday, July 01, 2026, at his residence.

Born in Rockingham County North Carolina, on June 08, 1962, to Mazie Murphy and the late Benny Murphy. Danny grew up in a loving home and community. He attended the local public schools and Laurel Park High School.

Danny began his career in the textile and apparel manufacturing industry. He retired from Gildan Activewear as a machine operator. He was currently employed at Big Buddy’s Moving Company in Axton, Virginia.

He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Danny was known for his love for the “Dallas Cowboys”.

Danny loved spending time with family and friends, often visiting those dear to him. After the passing of his brother Chris, he devoted himself to faithfully caring for his mother.

In addition to his father Benny Murphy, Danny was preceded in death by his two brothers Tony Murphy, and Christopher Murphy, his maternal grandmother Virgie Williams, and his nephew Akoreon “AJ” Murphy.

Those left to cherish Mr. Danny Murphy’s memories included his beloved mother Mazie Murphy of the home; his three children Paulette Cooke (Carlos) of Greensboro, North Carolina, Markese Dillard of Axton, Virginia, and Maurice Hampton of Cascade Virginia; his five grandchildren Khaleb Cooke, Kamari Cooke, Kennedy Cooke, Markese Dillard Jr., and Destinee Dillard; his three brothers Anthony Murphy (Darcia) of Stoneville, North Carolina, Kevin Williams of Axton, Virginia and Joe Winchester (Pam) of Eden, North Carolina; his three nieces Staci Murphy, Alisha Williams and Keiro Arrington (Chastin); his nephew Dajshon Murphy; his two great nephews, and two great-great nephews; his three aunts Bernice Motley, Jessie Mae Wooding, and Gladys Clark; his uncle Jimmy Williams (Mironda); and a host of other loving relatives, and cherished friends.

A Public viewing for Mr. Danny Murphy will be on Friday, July 10, 2026; from 3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at Fulton-Walton Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel of Eden; 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.

A Family visitation viewing for Mr. Danny Murphy will be on Saturday, July 11, 2026; from 11:30a.m. to 12:00noon at St. John Baptist Church, in Axton, Virginia.

Funeral Services for Mr. Danny Murphy will be conducted at 12:00noon on Saturday, July 11, 2026; at St. John Baptist Church, in Axton, Virginia.

Interment will follow at Gospel Light United Holy Church Cemetery in Axton, Virginia.
