Mr. Eddie William Hampton

Pelham, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Eddie William Hampton 57, of 1121 Old US Highway 29, Pelham, North Carolina. He passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at his residence.

Eddie was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina on May 17, 1969, to the late Ernest Wayne Hampton and Autrice Turner Hampton.

He attended local public schools and graduated from Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in 1988. Eddie later attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, where he played football before returning home to help his parents on the family farm. Soon after, he worked as a security guard at American Tobacco Sheds in Reidsville, North Carolina, then at Pluma’s Inc. in Eden, North Carolina. He later went on to work at Harris Teeter Distribution in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he worked for many years until his declining health. He also attended Disciples Holiness Church in Danville, Virginia.

Eddie’s favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends. He was a true die-hard Mami Dolphins fan, Eddie, always cheering on his favorite football team with unwavering loyalty, no matter the score. His passion for sports extended beyond the Miami Dolphins—he took great pride in watching local teams compete and celebrating their victories as if they were his own. In his playing days, he was a strong supporter of football, where his love for the game and competitive spirit shone through and through.

Mr. Eddie William Hampton leaves to cherish his memories with his wife Cassandra Hampton of the home, his beloved son that he loved so much Adam Hampton of the home, his two sisters Autrice Hampton-Barrett of Garner, North Carolina, and Ernestine Khan of Danville Virginia; one aunt Rosetta Dickerson of Reidsville, North Carolina; his one niece, his two nephews, his one great-niece, his four great-nephews, and a host of other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.
