Pelham, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Edward Lee Turner age 83 of 970 Mineral Springs Road, Pelham, North Carolina. He passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at his residence.
Mr. Edward Lee Turner, the beloved son of the late Jamie Turner and Mamie Watlington Turner, was born on June 06, 1942, in Caswell County, North Carolina. As a native and lifelong resident of Caswell County, Edward attended the local public schools and graduated from the Caswell County Training School “Class of 1962” in Yanceyville, North Carolina. Edward later met and married in Holy Matrimony the love of his life, Nadine Love, on June 10, 1967, and to their union they were blessed with two children, Karen and Jamie Turner.
He was a Textile Machine Maintenance Mechanic until his retirement of 47 years at Cone Mills Corporation (White Oak Plant), in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was also a member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church in Yanceyville, North Carolina, where he previously sang in the Blackwell Adult Choir. In his younger days he was also a member of the “Teenage Gospel Singers”.
Edward was an avid hunter and a founder of the Jones Hunting Club and the Caswell County Sportsman Club. On any given day, you could catch him following his favorite teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the NC State Wolf Pack. Pop always supported his grandchildren by cheering them on from the sidelines at every sporting event. In his spare time, he particularly enjoyed all things involving drag racing, whether it was driving race cars, working on race cars, or watching drag racing.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his one grandchild Jacob Turner; his five sisters Mary Bushnell, Frances Withers, Louise Hairston, Ruby Dixon, and Burdia “Liz” Hinton; along with his two brothers John and James Turner.
Fondly known as “Slim”, “Juicy”, “Big E”, and “Pop” to his grandchildren, relatives and friends, Edward Lee leaves to cherish his precious memories with his devoted and beloved wife of 58 years Nadine Love Turner, his daughter Karen Turner both of the home; his son Jamie (LT) Turner of Reidsville, North Carolina; three grandsons Kristopher Williamson, Keyon Slade, and Jared Turner; his one great-grandchild Kamille Slade; his bonus grandson Ron Wiley, Jr.; his great niece/bonus granddaughter Kennedy Dixon whom she cherished as her papa; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished friends.
