Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Ervin Bigelow of 227 Marshall Graves Road, Yanceyville, NC, who passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at his residence.
He was born on May 5, 1945, in Caswell County, NC, to the late Hollis Bigelow, Sr. and Mary Fuller Bigelow.
Ervin attended Caswell County Public Schools and was a dedicated employee of Hanover Mills as a Machine Operator and retired from AKG as a supervisor.
He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Geneva Simpson, and their union was filled with cherished memories. They raised two sons into the world, forming a loving family unit that brought him immense joy and pride. Ervin was a devoted family man. He was also a member of Graves Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Ervin was preceded in death by two sisters, Clarice Poole and Margaret Mitchell and two brothers, Willard Bigelow, and Hollis “Ricky” Bigelow.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Geneva Simpson Bigelow, of the home; two sons, Thomas “Tony” Simpson (Yolanda Lynn) of Yanceyville, NC, and Eric Bigelow (Tiffany Jackson) of Mebane, NC; two sisters, Janet Royal (Ralph) of Greensboro, NC, and Judy Corbett of Yanceyville, NC; one brother, Kenneth Bigelow (Corretta) of Winston Salem, NC,; six grandchildren, Kelsey Simpson, Kali Simpson, Kayden Simpson, Madison Jackson, Aubrey Bigelow, and Gavin Bigelow; one goddaughter, Audrey Sellers Rilley of Yanceyville, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.
Special friends who showed unwavering love and support, never missing a day without visiting or calling, include Wayman Madden, Alfred Graves, Ernest Watkins, and Kenneth Graves. His lifelong friends, Melvin Claiborne (Cynthia), Larry Graves (Novena), Janoff “Telly” Graves (Cricket), Dwight Graves (Kacine), Loretta Brooks, Constance Henderson, and Angel Lipscomb, remained close throughout his life, and their enduring friendship is deeply appreciated by the family.

Ervin was a man of kindness, good character, and always willing to help others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on small engine repairs, lawnmowers, and cutting grass. He also loved riding his bicycle and was known for his warm, welcoming spirit. Ervin was a great debater, loving to read, study the facts, and discuss topics in great details. He welcomed the discussion. Ervin's legacy of having a warm, welcoming spirit that made everyone around him feel loved and appreciated will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.

Ervin Bigelow's life exemplified the significance of showing kindness, staying dedicated, and spreading love. His memory will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
A public viewing for Mr. Ervin Bigelow will be on Tuesday, July 2, 2024; from 2 p.m. to 7 pm and family will be present from 6pm to 7pm in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
A family visitation viewing for Mr. Ervin Bigelow will be on Wednesday, July 3, 2024; from 1:30 pm to 2 pm at Graves Chapel Baptist Church.
Funeral service for Mr. Ervin Bigelow will be conducted at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Graves Chapel Baptist Church, in Yanceyville, NC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
