Milton, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. James Malloy Thomas Jr. 49, of 2252 Yarborough Mill Road, Milton, North Carolina. He passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Duke Regional Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
James, the beloved son of the Vivian Elliott Thomas and late James Malloy Thomas Sr., was born on September 17, 1976; in Danville, Virginia.
He attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey Senior High School, in Yanceyville, North Carolina.
Shortly afterwards, James was employed at Culp Weaving Textile Mill in Graham, North Carolina. He later pursued his skills and talents in the healthcare industry, where James was employed at Person County Group Home in Roxboro, North Carolina. He provided support to the individuals living in the group home, by helping them with daily activities and personal development. James also assisted clients in managing personal and social challenges, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church, in Milton, North Carolina and his favorite pastimes were playing spades and horseshoes.
Mr. James Malloy Thomas Jr. leaves to cherish his memories with his wife Tarsha Winstead of Oxford, North Carolina; his son Rashon Thomas of Pelham, North Carolina, his four daughters Jayonna Thomas of South Boston, Virginia, Kahlandria Clark of Reidsville, North Carolina, Jocelyn Thomas, and Kamaya Winstead both of Roxboro, North Carolina; his mother Vivian Elliott Thomas of Milton, North Carolina; his stepmother Swannie R. Thomas; his four sisters Surkeithus Thomas of Milton, North Carolina, Stacey Thomas of Yanceyville, North Carolina, Tiana Thomas of Reidsville, North Carolina, and Sherita Robertson of Burlington, North Carolina; his four brothers Maurice Thomas of Milton, North Carolina, Roderick Robertson of Kernersville, North Carolina, Rontray Robertson and Shawn Robertson both of Reidsville, North Carolina; his aunt Linda Coles (Javis), and his uncle Felix Elliott (Phyliss) all of Danville, Virginia; his special cousins Ike Jeffers of Danville, Virginia, and Rhonda Elliott Blackwell (Brian) of Greensboro, North Carolina; his five grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives, and many cherished friends.
