Mr. John Michael "Mike" Ledet Obituary

Goldsboro NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. John Michael “Mike” Ledet age 62 of 502 Adler Lane, Goldsboro, North Carolina. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 07, 2025, at UNC Wayne Health Care in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Mr. John Michael Ledet affectionately known as “Michael or Mike” was the eleventh child out of thirteen children born on October 30, 1962, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the late Kelly Ledet, Sr. and Clamonce Guillory Ledet.

Michael began his education in the Calcasieu Parish County School System and graduated from Sulphur High School Class of 1981.

Subsequently, Michael proudly served as United States Army National Guards for six years. He furthered his career by actively serving his country as a veteran of the Gulf War Era and Peacetime from November 04, 1987, to August 27, 1999. Michael served of the United States Army as Military Intelligence Radar personnel, Aviation Maintenance and Inspector, and lastly but not least as a Sergeant, where he received an honorable discharge. Michael started his new life as an entrepreneur in Selma, North Carolina called Michael’s All Brands Appliance Repair company until he was in a car accident along with his declining health.

It was also in North Carolina where Michael met the love of his life, Sarah Ann Poteat, and they were united in marriage on November 25, 2000. Though they had no children to their union they vowed to build their life together as inseparable partners. They both knew this took Christ being the center of their lives to make this possible, so they joined Interstate Ministries Incorporated in Clayton, North Carolina still dressed in their wedding attire.

He loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, fishing, music, and just enjoying life. Michael found great joy serving as a Worshipful Master in the Titus Elks Lodge #176 and a Grand Master Mason in the New Born Elks Lodge #171 both organizations in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his siblings Lois Ledet Rideau, Barbara Ledet Nero, Kathleena Ledet Boutte, Priscilla Ledet, Eddie Ledet, Sr, Gerard Ledet, and Phillip Ledet; and his mother-in-law Annie Harris Poteat Carver.
