Mr. John Motley Allen

Eden, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. John Motley Allen, age 68 of 1223 Ellerbe Court, Eden, North Carolina. He passed away on Wednesday, January 01, 2025, in Greensboro, North Carolina.

John was the son of Willie Mae Hicks Allen and the late Dubois Wesley Allen, Sr., born on April 05, 1956, in Rockingham County, North Carolina.

He attended the local Rockingham County public schools and John was employed in textiles.

In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by his wife, Vanessa Griffin Allen; paternal grandparents, Forrest Odell and Ida Mae Griffin; his maternal grandparents, William and Mary Hicks.

Mr. John Motley Allen leaves to cherish his memories to his son, Dequan Allen and his two children, Avery Keair Allen and Jada Taliyah-Marie Allen all of Greensboro, NC; his beloved mother, Willie Mae Hicks Allen; two sisters, Anissa Matthews (Allen) of Greensboro, NC and Ruth Bonds of Eden, NC; seven brothers, Dubois Wesley Allen, Jr. of Greensboro, NC, Kenneth L. Allen (Karen), Francis Allen, Vincent Allen (Shirley), Preston Allen, Carlas Lester and Marvin Lester all of Eden, NC, and a host of other loving relatives, and cherished friends.

A Public viewing for Mr. John Motley Allen will be Saturday, January 04, 2025; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel 417 Price Street, Eden, NC.

A family visitation viewing for Mr. John Motley Allen will be on Sunday, January 05, 2025; from 1:30p.m. to 2 p.m. at Fulton-Walton Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services for Mr. John Motley Allen will be conducted at 2:00pm Sunday, January 05, 2025; at Fulton-Walton Memorial  Chapel; 417 Price Street, Eden, NC. Dr. Reverend J. Rolan Cohen, Sr. delivering the Words of Comfort.

Interment will follow at Hairston Cemetery in Eden, NC.
