Alton, VA. - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. John Wilburt Jeffers of 359 Hughes Road, Alton, Virginia. He passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Piney Forest Health & Rehabilitation Center in Danville, Virginia.
John was the son of the late Robert Allen Jeffers and Minnie Mae Jones Jeffers, born on August 12, 1954, in Caswell County, North Carolina.
He received his early childhood education at Joseph Leidy Elementary School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and some of his High School education at Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina. John continued and finished his education at Overbrook, also located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At an early age John was baptized and joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Milton, North Carolina. He was a dedicated employee at Villanova University in Villanova, Philadelphia and Fine Grinding Corporation in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. John later returned to North Carolina after his retirement, where he actively fulfilled his favorite pastimes such as grilling, working on cars, and painting. He was also known for being a pro at playing pool back in the day.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter Toni Chiffon Jeffers, and his two sisters Mary Louise Ricks, and Franchella Nicholson.
Mr. John Wilburt Jeffers leaves to cherish his precious memories with his beloved and devoted daughter Stephanie Chevonne Jeffers Barco; his siblings Robert “Lee” Jeffers, Arthur “Stick” Jeffers (Glenda), Jerry Jeffers (Susan), Cynthia “Boo” Martin, and Jacqueline “Pat” Jeffers; his favorite cousin George Davis Jeffers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives Maurice Thomas and Brian Hancock, a special lifelong friend Janice Jones Martin, his best friends Ernie, Clee, Chris, and Reds, along with many other cherished friends and his grand dog Jax.
Public viewing for Mr. John Wilburt Jeffers will be on Friday, October 31, 2025; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Family visitation viewing for Mr. John Wilburt Jeffers will be on Saturday, November 01, 2025; from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon at New Zion Baptist Church, in Milton, NC.
Funeral Services for Mr. John Wilburt Jeffers will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 01, 2025, at New Zion Baptist Church, in Milton, NC.
Interment will follow at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, in Milton, NC.
