Mr. Johnnie Watlington Obituary

Danville, VA - Mr. Johnnie Watlington was born in Caswell County to the late James Watlington and Martha Jones Watlington on January 19th, 1941. He departed this life on February 20th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

At an early age, Johnnie was baptized and became a member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church. He attended the former Caswell County Training School. He briefly served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He was employed at Cole Chevrolet in Yanceyville, NC, for numerous years. Afterward, he was employed at Burlington Industries - Williamsburg Plant for 40 dedicated years before retiring with an outstanding attendance.

In his free time, Johnnie enjoyed watching NASCAR races. He was also a lover of classic cars and old-school music. He also enjoyed time outdoors - sitting outside on the porch and on beach trips. Spending time with his family was a cherished interest of his. Johnnie and his son played a very huge role in raising his granddaughter. 

February 03, 1969, Johnnie entered Holy Matrimony with his wife, Hilda Moore Watlington. Their union of 56 years was filled with love and cherished memories. Together they raised a beautiful family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: James, Hurley, Langston, and Earl Watlington; three sisters: Lillie Mae Austin, Willie Thelma Gwynn, and Ruby Watlington.

Johnnie leaves to cherish his memory, three children: Johnnie Kristin Watlington of Danville, Virginia, Angela Jeffers (Jerome) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sharon Watlington of Burlington, North Carolina; two grandchildren: Jeron Jeffers of Charlotte, NC, and Kendall Lloyd of Burlington, North Carolina; three sisters:  Cleo Stokes of Yanceyville, North Carolina, Jackie Graves of Yanceyville, North Carolina, and Jennie Bowe of Greensboro North Carolina; one brother: Brotha Watlington (Sandra) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; four in-laws: Clarence Lee Moore (Deloris), Willie Moore (Martha), Charlie (Todd) Moore (Mary), Juanita Moore Williamson; of and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Johnnie also had two dear friends: Larry and Donald Foster.

A Public viewing for Mr. Johnnie Watlington will be on Monday, February 24, 2025; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home. Family presence from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services for Mr. Johnnie Watlington will be conducted at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Military rites by the US Navy Honor Guard, Norfolk, Va.
